Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public

H.L. Mencken said that, and in fairness to the Yanks it’s probably true of any public.

But it now looks like, with Obama forging ahead in the polls in the US, that we’ve finally reached the limits of his statement. Check this out:

The interviewer is obviously a prick, but the republican interviewee … a fool. He even continues to argue after he’s been dramatically caught out. Putting people this clueless on TV shows the level of contempt the Republican party has for American citizens. Glad to see they’re getting their comeuppance.
